Find a Church Directory "Flock Finder"

Flockfinder is free to those trying to find a church. To test it I searched for church in Florence Kentucky, then church Northern Kentucky. To find churches in your area is couple of simple steps.  The graphics are cute but the text that pops up when it doesn’t find a church in the zip code selected is very repetitive. For ease of use it is excellent. Front and center on the home page you just type in your zip code and select a mile radius. Fifteen is the least -- which isn’t good for me.  In a dense suburban area I wouldn’t go more than five miles. There were no Florence churches, no Northern Kentucky churches. Anyway, the fifteen mile radius on my zip code brought up only one church and that was across the river in Ohio.

Oops. Another site that is attractive and seems well planned -- but can’t produce a church near me.
I tried a few zip codes just to see the quality of information it provides when you do find a church and I was pleasantly surprised. There was a note from the pastor, a short paragraph, photo and link to their website. The information was good. They just need to list more churches -- a lot more. If I was truly looking to find a church this site would have been a waste of time for me.
For churches it’s a pay site. Before I paid to list my church I would want to make sure it was among the sites worth my investment.

I’ll give it a three stars out of five. ***

Review: Find A Church.com

Many directories online can help you find a church in your area.

One is even called Find A Church which claims to list over 25,000 churches in the United States and 37,557 churches globally. With the estimated number of churches in the U.S. at 450,000, their site may list 5% or less of the churches in America. The site is attractive and easy to navigate, but since it's a pay site it's content is limited. I typed my zip code and chose the "5 mile" parameter.  My zip code is in a suburban area with maybe a quarter of a million people within 5 miles. The results that came up included only six churches, three Protestant and three Catholic. Though there seem to be fields for churches to enter lots of information the only data on these churches was a website and address. Some didn't even have a website listed. I would guess there might be 200 churches in my area. So, yes, you could find a church that's near you. But, no, you're not going to see a listing of nearly all the churches in your area.  I give it a 3 out of 5 because in the end, search results are much more significant than the aesthetics or ease of use.

TOP FIVE WAYS TO FIND A CHURCH

How to find a church. The process of Finding a church that's right for you is evolving as technology transforms every aspect of our lives. What would you use? Go to the building on the corner that you've driven by you whole life? Check the yellow pages? Google "church" and see what comes up in your area? There are other ways, which might yield happier results. The best might be a combination of two or more:

5. The Lawn Sign. Judging from all of the lawn signs you see on every busy corner, new churches are hoping that you will consider the lawn sign method when finding a church. Actually, it's not a bad idea. If they're making an effort to let you know they're out there -- They may be friendly and glad to see you when you get to their door.

4. Church Website. Many churches have content-rich websites to help you find a church. You can take a virtual visit and get a feel for what it might be like.

3. A complete stranger. Whether it's a knock at the door, a letter in the mail or meeting someone by chance at the mall or on the bus, the right church may come and find you. . .

2. Friends and Family. You may have considered it nagging, but if they like their church... You just find a church home that makes you happy too.

1. Pray. This is the number one overlooked strategy for finding the right church. The Lord is the chief shepherd and if you ask He will lead you.
